CloudNotes: What I’ll miss about Google Notebook? Speed and Search.

  • nitinbadjatia · 11 months ago
I've got to agree with you, Google Notebook had so much potential, but like so many projects inside Google, it never received the attention it deserved. I think UberNote will have the same long term implications as some of the other providers, that is, it will eventually go away. Zoho's products are all good, but none of them are great. Your points about search and tagging are spot on.

I hope, but doubt, that Google will release Notebook in open source format so developers can continue to build on a solid platform.

In the meantime, I'm using a combination of Diigo (for bookmarking, quick notes), Evernote (for fast capture), and Google Sites (for more complex coordination of notes). None of these really integrate, but they are all fast, and offer a certain degree of flexibility.

Zotero would be an excellent solution, but for some reason I can't quite get version 1.5 to run on my Firefox.

Thank you for mentioning us. To set the record straight with our elephant. It is something we've had before EverNote. Here is a blog post we were in over a year ago http://www.thetechbrief.com/2007/12/16/get-uber...

Which was before Evernote had a web version where they started using the elephant.

Thanks again for mentioning us and we are working on a new release that should speed things up.

What do you think of threetags.com? They don't have search, but they have tags, and an interesting security twist.

I looked at threetags based on your recommendation. What I don't see is an easy way to clip articles through bookmarklets or what not. Without this feature, I won't even consider it for my online needs.

Also, I'd never place any confidential information online so their security feature is nice, but not a critical factor when evaluating online notebooks.
