CloudNotes: Why Google Reader is still hugely important (to me)

I agree just about 100% with this. You said it best when you wrote " it’s flexible enough to encompass everything I need to do when I’m consuming content online". It is the flexibility of Google Reader that makes it shine. I have hand selected my sources, and Reader is saving all of that information even if I don't read it. If I get behind I can mark everything as read, but still know for sure that I can come back to Reader and do a search in my sources for the right information.

Tagging, sharing, e-mailing all very useful in Google Reader. Before I switched to Chrome I was using the Read It Later and PostRank integration to help manage what I was reading. I do share quite a few links out to Twitter, and in turn Friendfeed. If it was not for Reader I would not find those links.

Not to echo everyone's comments but I agree as well.
RSS is for me is a deeper experience when I can get more of just headlines. It's my personal news center. I can focus on just what I want and share it as needed.

I fully agree. About time someone injected some sense back into this discussion. GR is one of my favorite tools ... like you, I'm "into too much" to try to keep up with it all on Twitter or FriendFeed. They are good for what they were intended to be: social communication.
