meg · 1 year agoI've commented elsewhere about this, but I wonder to what extent this is a way to improve their algorithm. They masquerade it as a service/tool, but really it is for their own benefit.

mrshl · 1 year agoI think it's both. It's good for users and it's good for the algorithm. But this is also true of the search engine itself. It learns from its users. What makes Google successful is that its users goals and aims are so well aligned with their own.

Anon E Mouse · 1 year agoIs there any way to DISABLE the thing? I despise it -- it mucks up what was a nice, clean, and simple search results page.

mrshl · 1 year agoI have no idea. Again, I don't think it's all that intrusive. Hell, I'll probably never use it, but it doesn't interfere with Google. Not for me anyway.
